Little bit of a break there, unexpected. But also to be expected because of the holidays. We announced that the wife and I are having a baby over thanksgiving and everyone's reaction was great. Super excited and honestly I don't think anyone expected it. Good food with good family. What more can you ask for?
The progress on my Spotify to Tidal program is coming along. I have it properly adding songs to appropriately named playlists and then prompting the user if a close match isn't found. And then ultimately at the end spitting out a CSV of "missed" tracks. It's actually pretty cool to see it all coming together. I still need to put in some work to transfer liked songs from Spotify over to Tidal as that apparently is a different process, but we'll get there. The only odd bug I've seen so far is Tidal will accurately search for song, present me with the option to add, and then add a completely different song. I'm guessing whatever ID Tidal is using for a song is just wrong on their backend, as the songs do exist when manually searching. Unfortunately I don't really know of a way around this so a brief manual review will still probably be needed at the very end.
The goal here is finish this project, and then maybe start on some Advent of Code type stuff or move into the Go portion of the course I'm taking.
Got the chance yesterday to do a little outside winter time fun with my niece, she's 4 so she's at a super fun age. Ending up shoveling out and packing down snow for a nice hill to sled down.

Did my first Advent of Code challenge yesterday. Little harder than I expected. Honestly kind of made me feel like fucking trash about myself but I came around today after giving myself grace. Basically seeing all these other users just spitting out these solutions made me feel kinda dumb. But then I just needed to remind myself that I really haven't been programming that long so I'll just keep on trying to do the best I can. I did actually solve the one today which felt pretty cool.
On the programming topic I did release my Spotify to Tidal playlist migrator written in python. I actually was going to look into using Flask to create a web app so others could use it as well but thankfully I discovred Spotify won't let you host an app unless you're a business. So saved a lot of work for myself there. But the program itself actually works pretty well! It's not perfect but I blame that more on translating between Spotify and Tidal, if songs had a book like UPC that everyone agreed upon, it would be wayyy simpler.
We're getting close to recording date for the band. Down to ye olde crunch time. I'm very excited, I think this music I'll be putting out compared to the last time will be leagues better.

Well today I couldn't quite nail the advent of code attempt. Frustratingly I solved the test data properly but when running against the real input data I fell short. I did have to look at some solutions and do a little bit of copying and pasting here. I'm sorta bummed but I do like to believe I'm still learning but writing it out myself and walking through the solution. Again, need to remind myself to give grace as I've only been doing this for a few months and it isn't my career.
Had a meeting with a genetic counselor today for the lil babe. I'm glad science allows us to test for all types of various diseases and disorders nowadays. Both of us agree we really can't deal with a child that some major issue, so I'm glad science can empower us in these decisions.

Five days out from the studio so I'm going to try my best to not get sick before then. I believe I will also start the Golang course in my programming course. I was enjoying Advent of Code but I want to keep progressing in my course and I really only have time for one or the other.

This week I've been feeling very mentally motivated, moreso in my personal life rather than in my work life. Work life I'm still feeling pretty cheated in regards to promotion, pay, career growth etc. Then again who doesn't. So I'm still trying to figure out where I want to go career path wise, I feel like I'm at a fork in the road and I'm just trying to up my skills so I can have both paths open to me. IDK, who fucking knows lmao.
I went to go and order my wife some stocking stuffers that had some good clean ingredients and made in Australia and.... no longer shipping to the US because of tariffs. Lotta winning here folks. Was actually really irritated because it was such a killer idea.
Speaking of gifts, I wrapped up the montage I've been making on a yearly basis for the wife with a killer ending of a really funny clip of her at the casino kinda tipsy just living her best life playing the slots. I love that one.
